Every now and then, we hear news of refugees drowning while crossing the Mediterranean. The fact diary says that more than 5,000 refugees have died in an attempt to cross the stormy sea. 

In the past year, the flight of refugees bolting conflict in West Africa and parts of the Middle East has become more uncertain. With the rise in stats, the risk of dying has also become ten times higher in the alternate routes.

In the most recent rescue mission, operated by SOS Mediterranee and Medecins Sans Frontieres, the ship, and its troupe searched for refugees in the Mediterranean who otherwise would have a slight chance of surviving. And, in the same rescue mission, a German photographer named, Kevin McElvaney accompanied the three-week expedition and came up with the collection of heart-wrenching pictures
