Prajwala is India's most prominent non-governmental organisation started by Dr.Sunitha Krishnan in the year 1996. Prajwala has received more than 50 prestigious awards for its contribution towards the society. It is mainly focussed in saving young girls and women who have fallen into the trap of large human trafficking bodies. They work towards the rescue and rehabilitation work of those unlucky humans.
The recent unfortunate attacks on the Prajwala staff has increased the problems of the organisation. The landlord of Prajwala's Economic Rehabilitation Centre has asked the organisation to leave its premises after September 2015. Also, no one else is ready to provide Prajwala with a land as everybody is fearing the attackers.
The land that Prajwala wants to buy is 2 Kms from the Hyderabad Airport and is costing around 2 crores ($313,728) and the cost will double after the construction. So, if anybody of you are interested in preserving Prajwala's existence, click here for the donation of which they are in a desperate need.
Around 200,000 women are sexually exploited each year and one-third among them are children i.e. below the age of 16!
This not only affects a person's body but also her psychological and moral status.
They even taught the survivors and 6500 of the graduates are employed now. Also, 7500 of the underprivileged women are saved from getting into that trap.
The India's largest rehabilitation centre, Economic Rehabilitation Unit is 65Kms away from Hyderabad. 60 victims are rescued consistently every month. But, it is tough to take them to such a far placed centre on time, as they need quick assistance.
The emergency centre and Prajwala base camps are also proposed.
She is working extremely hard to change government's dull attitude towards such a gruesome problem.
You can also donate to Prajwala's U.S. Partner, EK DISHA, a registered 501 (c) 3. 100% donation of Ek Disha is directed to Prajwala. Share as quickly as possible to help India!
