Lots of Haunted stories are rampant. This is one of the most creepiest places in the world. Many of the tombs are opened here. This town had mines and when mines were destroyed, this place was left deserted. The slaves who died here lived in very paltry state. Eyewitnesses have reported that when the sun goes down, the dead rise from their graves and begin walking toward the town.

Before the entrance to the ossuary, there's an underground space used for themed exhibitions . As visitors pass into the ossuary, they walk under a doorway with a haunting inscription above: "Arrete, c'est ici l'empire de la mort!" (Stop! This is the empire of death!). The constant temperature is 57 F and it's chilling here.

The cemetries are beautiful and colorful. This cemetery has always got the attraction of tourists because the only cemetery in world which is coloured. These tombs are coloured because the people who lived there believed that life after death is beautiful new start.

A young Girl, Rufina was pronounced dead by 3 doctors at the age of 19 and she was buried alive. After few days a worker at cemetery noticed that her coffin had moved a little and had scratch marks, it was known later that the girl was alive and died inside of suffocation.

When Rufina's father heard this, he was devastated and rebuilt her grave to portray his daughter opening the doors to her own grave. At night the gruesome shadow of her former self wanders around the cemetery and unearths dead bodies to ensure they haven't suffered the same ugly fate.

A famous and unsolved mystery involves a man who has been seen in the graveyard for more than fifty years. Whoever this strange figure may be, he is always described in the same way. Dressed completely in black, including a black fedora and a black scarf to hide his face, he carries a walking stick and strolls into the cemetery every year on January 19, the birth date of Edgar Allan Poe. On every occasion, he has left behind a bottle of cognac and three red roses on the gravesite of the late author. After placing these items with care, he then stands, tips his hat and walks away. The offerings always remain on the grave, although one year, they were accompanied by a note, bearing no signature, which read: "Edgar, I haven't forgotten you."

The devil reportedly makes a personal appearance in the cemetery on Halloween at midnight to visit the grave of a witch with whom the devil had a child. Their child is said to materialize in the surrounding woods, taking on the form of a werewolf.
