Transplants of various parts of the body have been becoming more and more feasible with time and technology. And one of these medical and technological miracles is corneal transplant! These transplants are truly safe and effective. But they sure as hell don't look like that, simply because of the freaky nature of the operation!
Don't miss out the tiny stitches - a work that needs the steadiest of hands!
These can range from corneal scarring to blunt-force trauma.
The stitches are absorbed by the body over time. Here is the eye of a patient who had a cornea transplant one year prior to when this photo was taken. You can see that there are still two stitches left.
Doctors can also use synthetic corneas. Once transplanted, they look a little something like this.
Success rate, however, depends on the situation!
