Army vet, Chris Mintz tried to protect his classmates in Thursday's shooting at Umpqua Community College and was shot seven times, his aunt told NBC News. Mintz is currently hospitalized. He underwent surgery after being shot in the back, abdomen and hands, and also had two broken legs. According to his family, both of his legs are broken and he will have to learn to walk again.
It's great to see such kind of heroic gesture and we wish for a soon recovery of this real life hero.
Chris Harper-Mercer, 26, was identified as the maniac who killed nine people and injured seven others. The incident happened on Thursday at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg after he demanded to know their religions. Mintz's cousin, Derek Bourgeois, told The Daily Mail that Mintz charged at the shooter. He stood firmly to protect his classmates even after 7 deadly shots.
She further added "I really think that if he wasn't such a strong, young guy, he may have died."
He underwent surgery after being shot in the back, abdomen and hands, and according to his family he won't be able to walk on his own legs again. Even after such a terrific event, Mintz smiled when he was taken to hospital.
He is really a true inspiration and took humanity to next level.
