P aedophile, as we all know, is a person who is sexually attracted to children, so what if such people are stabbed to death by someone. A crime will always remain a crime, no matter whether it was done with good intention or not. A single mother from East London, Sarah Sands, aged 32, has been sentenced to prison for a period of three and a half years as she killed a paedophile living on the same estate.
She was found guilty of the manslaughter and hence convicted by Old Bailey after hearing how she killed Michael Pleasted eight times before he died, however the murder is more considered as a 'Sustained and determined attack'. Judge Nicholas Cooke, who reduced her sentence from 7 years to just half, owing to her being a single mother said, 'Her act could not be considered as a murder because she had been proven to lost control as opposed to committing "vigilante conduct'', the judge hence, adopted a soft approach towards her.
Speaking about Pleasted, he was awaiting trial at the time of his death for two counts of sexual assault on two children aged under 13. He also has a history of similar crimes but he was not put on the list of sex offenders as he committed all those crimes prior to 1997. However, the defendants in this case argued that Sand's intention was never to kill Pleasted and that she approached him with the objective of convincing him to confess to all recent allegations, however she felt offended when Pleated did not listened to her and hence she stabbed him to death.
Sarah is now in prison for past 10 months and possibilities are that she might be granted parole in 11 months, she never did anything to hide her crime and was very compliant with police, she surrendered herself to police in no time after murder and did not took any step to destroy evidence. Kudos to people like her who after committing crime demonstrate genuine remorse.
