Quadruplets, a rare case of four fetuses sharing the same womb, was detected with Ashley Gardner. With all the preparations going on to welcome the four children, there were complications developing too.
Everyone around was excited and things were going pretty well.
Two of the four babies developed what is called Twin-to-twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). In this one of the two identical twin, sharing the same placenta, starts to donate its blood to the other.
And in a very bizarre occurrence, the baby that was receiving the excess blood was the one in more danger due to heart being over-strained. Thus, an operation was performed.
But after an initial incubation period of a little over 24 hours, the doctors declared things to be under control.
