Birth is such a wonderful thing - the beginning of a new life on the face of the nourishing Earth. But what if a baby is born under dangerous conditions? Recently, amidst the unrest at Syria, a mother and her unborn child were injured in a missile attack in Aleppo. The baby was born with a shrapnel in her head, which was obviously extremely dangerous for her. However, a team of medical professionals were able to treat her and save the tiny being.
Syrian medical staff pose with the unnamed baby girl whose life they saved after she was injured by shrapnel while in the womb of her mother.
The shrapnel had caused a large head wound. Doctors have been able to successfully remove it by surgery.
It took rigourous rubbing and clearing of the airways to get the injured baby breathing on her own.
The baby was delivered by an emergency cesarean after she and her mother were wounded in a missile strike.
It's sad how the war has extended from hurting the ones alive to even those who are yet to be born!
