Rebecca Lewis, a woman of 30, found her fiancé texting another woman. Her fiancé, Paul Rusher, 26, fell in love with an American stranger he met on Facebook. Rebecca accused her of being a con artist who was using fake photographs.
The two have patched up and planning to go ahead with their wedding. After discovering that her fiancé had been dating another girl, a woman was devastated before it was revealed that the other girl was just a con artist.
Rebecca Lewis, 30, broke ties with Paul Rusher, 26, after finding out about the online relationship he had established with a woman, Kristen, he found on Facebook just weeks after they got engaged in July 2012. Luckily, the woman turned out to be a con artist and Rebecca revealed her true identity.
Rebecca and Paul met while working in a supermarket in 2010 and had been together since. But Paul accepted this stranger woman's request on Facebook just after his engagement. The initial conversation was pretty basic but then the plans to meet up and further future planning were done by the two. Talking about the moment she came to know the truth after logging onto Paul's Facebook account, she said "It was the biggest shock of my life. I knew something was not right with Paul since he had started acting indifferently and uninterested in me. He would mostly be busy with his cellphone or his computer. It was all confusing- Paul had proposed just months earlier and now he didn't even look at me."
"I knew he was hiding something and I was pretty sure it was a girl. I logged onto his Facebook account in the hope of finding some answers What I saw next turned why whole wide world upside down. There were a string of messages from a pretty blonde named Kristen, who lived in California. The messages seemed to be getting more and more intimidating and it was almost ten times a day that Paul messaged her. There were loads of differently posed photos of this girls and scrolling back I realized that he had known her since July- just weeks after our engagement. " Rebecca confronted Paul and the latter promised to stop talking to Kristen and claimed of it not being anything serious. Rebecca said "I managed to check up his phone while he was in the restroom the next day and to my surprise, found him whatsapping her. And in one message he had confessed that he loved her."
"I failed to understand how he could tell a woman he had never met that he loved her. I confronted him about this and he confessed it to be true, that he was in love with her but he was confused and so I packed up my stuff and left." Paul Didn't stop talking to Kristen even after Rebecca moved out of the place they shared together in 2012. Rebecca sent a Facebook message to Kristen a few days later accusing her of ruining her relationship and crushing her wedding dreams to which Kristen replied "Paul's in love with me now, Rebecca. Go away." But Paul's new woman didn't seem to add up. She claimed to be the daughter of multimillionaire businessman but said she couldn't afford a plane ticket to fly and visit Paul. She made several other excuses to avoid meeting him. Rebecca started living with her parents again but kept in touch with Paul as friends. She said "I was still in love with him and couldn't bear to not be a part of his life so I hoped to stay friends with him."
"We'd often send weird texts or meet up for coffee, and even after admitting he missed me, Paul was still intent on being with Kristen. I would beg Paul about the strange fact that he still haven't met her yet but he just seemed to shrug it off Hew was completely smitten by her, and was sure that she'll met him soon. I was pretty sure that she was too good to be true and when a friend suggested me that Paul might be a victim of a romance scam, it cleared all my doubts. So I decided to discover as much I can about such con artists and how they trick men in to paying them cash." In Jan 2013, after countless research, Rebecca found a forum containing information about this woman who was a con artist. Kristen was just an alias she used to con men out money but used photographs of a genuine model. Rebecca said "That was enough proof for me. I could believe Paul had been so stupid. I rusher to Paul's house and revealed all of my findings.
Paul didn't believe the scam news at first but he admitted that Kristen in fact had asked him for £2000 for the plane ticket to visit him in England. At first he didn't believe it but later admitted that he Kristen had asked for £2000 for the plane ticket from him. Thankfully he had not payed any money to her yet. He was horrified and cut off all contacts with Kristen. Paul and I sent her a final message telling her she had been caught but she just replied that she had found another man and was no longer interested in Paul. In March last year Paul confessed he still loved Rebeeca and after a string of apologies the two got back together. They have moved from Ross-on-Wye to Oxford hoping for a fresh start and leaving the past behind , have decided to marry. Rebecca said "I'm happy to have overcome that overdeal and now we are putting the past behind us but if anything, that incident has just made us stronger. I never stopped loving Paul and now we have a second shot at happiness that I'm grateful for "
Speaking about the scam Paul said " I feel like an idiot, to be honest. I was flattered that a pretty girl like that was showing interest in me and we had been talking for months before she asked me for money. It felt nice to have someone to talk to while Rebeeca worked at night. She succeeded in changing my perspective towards my life. She made me feel I was unhappy with Rebecca which was not the case. I didn't believe that it was a scam at first because she seemed pretty genuine to me. I was very upset when I discovered the truth but I'm glad I didn't give away any money. I wish I never had a Facebook account in the first place since it messed up my entire life. Now that I've won a second chance with Rebecca, I am never letting her go.
