Women wish to look beautiful and breath-taking on their wedding day, and this wish is born in childhood itself. For them, everything is like a dream, the white dress, the long veil, the bouquets of roses, etc. But their fantasies differ when it comes to the groom.
There are a few special women for whom there is no human groom. They have no man standing next to them on the day of their marriage. On their wedding, there is no kiss, no ring ceremony and no wedding cake too. These women are called "The Consecrated Virgins.” A number of these women are less in the world; they are only about 3000 and in the US the number is 215!
Meet Jessica Hayes, a 38-year-old young woman who is one of the blessed women whose groom is no human but God!
Jessica lay down on the floor of the church and swear to "persevere to the end of [her] days in the holy state of virginity and in the service of God and His Church."
She is a teacher at Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne, IN.
The young bride explained, "I think that in some sense, we're all called to be married. It's just a matter of discerning how, so, my marriage is to Christ, and someone else's marriage is to their spouse."
