Mysterious Case Of A Model Who Could Not Stop Losing Weight
Lisa Brown had a rare
stomach disorder because of which she lost her weight drastically. She never worried about her weight before the age of 28, but after that, she realized something was wrong.
Within few days she’d dropped from 140 to 112 pounds, and this completely shocked her.
Her family has also started a
GoFundMe page to pay Brown's exorbitant medical bills. To date, the page has raised just over $10,000 toward Brown's $50,000 goal.
She was fine till 2010, after that Lisa witnessed a drastic change in her appearance.
She was newly wed at that time and her husband noticed that each time she ate, she felt full more quickly than usual.
After a while, her tight clothing became loose, and her pink sapphire wedding ring slipped off.
Lisa Brown started worrying about her weight after this incident.
She began to suffer from severe abdominal pain and debilitating nausea along with the weight loss
She says, 'It was like my ability to eat quantities had shrunk and shrunk, until eventually I couldn't eat anything, I would be in tears from the pain and so angry because it didn't make any sense.'
She suffered a lot because of the mysterious problem.
Despite visits to numerous doctors, Brown's weight continued to plummet.
Lisa consulted almost all the doctors in Wisconsin, but even after gastrointestinal tests including gastric imaging, endoscopy and colonoscopy, no one was able to deduct her problem.
A measure of hope finally arrived in December 2013, when a gastroenterologist at Froedbert Hospital in Milwaukee noticed in a former CT scan and angiogram that a portion of Brown's intestine was pinched.
She was eventually diagnosed with superior Mesenteric artery (SMA) syndrome, a rare digestive system disorder in which a portion of the small intestine is compressed, obstructing food from passing through.
Instead of spending more time with his ailing wife, Patrick Brown has been forced to work long hours at his engineering job to cover the couple's steep medical bills.
On July 15, she underwent a surgery at the Cleveland Clinic to fit her with a rejejunostomy feeding tube.
Brown told people that she continues to struggle with pain, but has gained eight pounds in recent weeks.
Her husband supported her throughout this journey and she is recovering because of his endless support.
