We’ve all have had fantasies of finding out pots of gold or ruins of buried cities like those of Mohenjodaro while digging in our backyard. But, most of the time, all we got was wrappers of chocolates and used pens.
The story of these kids is pretty much different from ours though.
Let’s find out what they discovered buried in their lawn.
The family had just moved into the house and the boys rushed to the lawn yard to have fun digging it up. The moment they realised something was wrong, they immediately informed the police. A team of investigators arrived and sealed the area. They carefully unearthed the buried car.
After disinterring the Italian sports car, the police began the investigation regarding who buried it there. It was pretty roughly buried, with towels in the vents and windows partially closed, which lead to a lot of interior damage to the car. Details were collected and the concerned insurance company, namely Farmers Insurance was contacted. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) was used to trace the last owner of the car. After the investigation, it turned out that the owner had himself hired thieves to steal the Ferrari and dump it in ocean to claim insurance on it! The thieves were smarter though. They buried the car intending to come back and pick it up for themselves.
The incident's news spread like a wildfire across the country. In the auction, the car was purchased by a young mechanic from California who owned his own automotive shop. The bid was estimated to be between $5,000 and $9,000.
Why wouldn't he? It was a rare Ferrari!
The entire incident was like a Hollywood thriller movie, a buried car with a mind-boggling intention behind and later the mystery solved. Who would've thought of digging up a Ferrari Dino in his lawn!
