This Guy Decided To Construct A Swimming Pool Which You Should Totally Own!
A few years ago, Reddit user Cracker Cortex decided to start a DIY pool project in his backyard after his dog died. His plan was to build a small koi pond, but after discussing the same with a friend, he decided to go for something way more grand and awesome!
He finished the project spending about $10,000 whereas professional help would have cost him at least $30,000. This guy’s a genius!
This DIY pool is what every backyard deserves!
The initial plans were to build a simple and small Koi pond.
Once he switched to the pool idea, he started planning its construction and design. The original plan included a waterfall, a kiddie pool for his son, main pool and a grotto for aesthetic look.
He started the digging himself, and the excavation was much bigger in scale than actually planned.
After all the Redditor had awesome things going on in his mind!
After the required digging was finished, he started working on the retaining wall using reinforcement.
Retaining wall serves the purpose of holding the side pressure from the soil and groundwater and protects the structure from collapsing.
Plumbing arrangements were in progress too.
His engineering skills were on high spirits!
Reinforcement mesh were laid according to the soil and structure strength.
The frame of the pool was then covered in Shotcrete.
Shotcreting is a rapid method of concreting when the size of the structure is not massive.
The pool construction entered the last phase with this.
After the shotcrete dried, rocks were created with latex and colored concrete.
And here's the wonderful result of his hard work and innovation.
Here's the grotto section of the pool.
His adorable son having fun in the kiddie pool. This is what makes all the perseverance worth it!
Adding to the brilliance, he raised a fire pit next to the pool.
