This Georgia couple was being playful on a wedding they attended recently and decided to take a funny selfie. To add amusement to it, Ashley held the bouquet she had caught in the wedding in her hands while Christopher, her boyfriend, made a goofy face in the background. The photo was posted online and went viral on Reddit in no time, but for all the wrong reasons.
A lot of negative comments started bombing on the photo, most of them bullying Christopher on his weight and his expression in the photograph. Bullies even went despicable saying things like “That fatty should be jumping up and down that this girl is even with him let alone him possibly getting that much closer to marrying her.”
It was Ashley and Christopher’s reaction to the unexpected explosion which was remarkable. Though Christopher didn’t pay much attention to the bullies as he believes that his confidence is very strong and won’t be shattered by a few people commenting on his physical appearance. But, Ashley wants the Internet to know that her two-and-a-half-year-old relationship with Christopher is based on love and trust and is much above the loathsome concept of physical appearances. And she’s totally nailed it!
Initially Christopher laughed off at the negative comments and moved on as if nothing happened. He says, "Honestly, I've always been a big guy the majority of my life and so of course I had the comments and the cruel jokes growing up, so I kind of got used to it. I know who I am and I really don't care what people have to say about me because I'm confident. It's trolls sitting behind their computers. They don't know us and they can't talk about us, so honestly it just didn't bother me."
She says, "Well let me just tell you, I have won the jackpot with Christopher. He may not have rock hard abs like the world tells girls to want in a guy, but really, why does that even matter when you are trying to really find someone you want to spend the rest of your life with?"
The couple proved that inner beauty is more powerful than physical appearance. Ashley is speaking publicly about this experience, and how her bond of affection and trust with Christopher became even stronger.
"He is so thoughtful and patient. He always shows me how he loves me in little ways. He is my best friend. I love him for who he is and he loves me for who I am. Understanding, loving and hilarious, which is so rare to find these days!!" are the words of her Facebook post, which was the comeback to her bullies.
"Since I was young, (like many other little girls) I dreamed about who I would end up with. Once I gave my life to Christ and saw examples of Godly marriages and relationships, I wanted that. God saw the desires of my heart and gave me Christopher. He brings me closer to God through prayer, and his love. I know God will use us both for awesome things because we make a great team!"
