"With great power comes great responsibility, and with Indian cricket jersey, comes great brand-ability."
By this upgraded version of an age-old famous quote, I intend to let my readers know that a sportsperson's playing skills are just half the job done as far as building a personal brand is concerned. Today, with all those millions of fans following a player on social media, cannot afford to appear dull and showcase a lack of creativity.
Good news! The Indian team has definitely transitioned and adapted to this world of endorsing oneself and the efforts off-field are receiving tremendous appreciation from elsewhere. And when we look into Team India's IPL hairstyle, the one name that pops up is 'The Fade'.
Yes, these XI Indian players have recently got The Fade haircut, which is already one of the most trendy men's hairstyles in 2018.
The most successful Indian captain and Lt Col (Hony) in the Indian Army, MS Dhoni is a household name since past one decade now. Last year in November, he visited Srinagar, Baramulla and other parts of Kashmir to meet the Army officials and locals there. His love for the Indian Army can be seen in his Insta posts, the colour of his kit and of course, his hairstyle.
His haircut matches with that of the fade cut and he's nailing it like the captain.
This guy always remains up-to-date when it comes to fashion. Although, his cricket is suffering today with all those misfields and poor shot selections, his styling game is up to the mark with his fellow mates.
After sporting the 'undercut', here is Virat's new look and it's a fact that he can look good no matter how his hair is. Also, many people claim that getting a new haircut leads to freshness and great confidence. But in case of Kohli, he's forever up in his game and a good haircut just adds to his glitter.
When hairstylist Jawed Habib was asked about the fade cut, he rightly told TOI-
"Cricketers aren't cricketers anymore; they are trendsetters, fashion icons. Every time, the festival of IPL starts, you can see cricketers getting a new haircut, taking pictures and Instagramming that."
This guy had a bad IPL 2018 if you talk about the runs he made but he had a dream run when it comes to his bowling. Having already taken 18 wickets in the 11 matches that he played, he is making rounds both with his bowling and his super awesome haircut.
Fun fact: He also got his hair dyed blue, then blonde and now this.
The only Mumbai Indian batsman who kept their score ticking when things came down to the middle order, Krunal is blazing. He got married right after Virat and Anushka tied the knot and the marriage definitely brought him luck.
One of the most successful IPL batsmen, Raina does not just sport a fade but a real cool moustache and stubble. He's not a fan of regularly changing hairstyles but when he does that, he's definitely a macho-man to look out for.
Most number of sixes? Rishabh Pant. Most number of fours? Rishabh Pant.
His team might not be doing that well with only three wins coming in last 12 matches, but his game is on a new level. He is the lone ranger in Delhi Daredevils along with Shreyas Iyer who is trying his best to win matches.
After Gautam Gambhir left DD captaincy midway, it was Shreyas who was trusted upon. He did his bit by playing a few good innings but he still has got a lot to learn as a captain. His hairstyle, after all, rocked.
This guy here is definitely one good bowler and a key player for Kings XI in this IPL season. He can bat as well as bowl and field in a way that leaves no scope of complaint. He rocked this new hairstyle for the first time and we loved it.
Earlier, people used to have a wrong perception about him that he definitely can not hit big and quick, as is the need of the T20 format. But over the past few seasons of captaining Rajasthan Royals, he has greatly changed his image and his new hairstyle just adds to that line of changes.
This guy has come out as a pleasant surprise for Preity Zinta. He plays alongside Chris Gayle in his IPL team and he's just talking in 4s and 6s if you look at his transformed avatar. And yes, his haircut suits that way of playing.
Why didn't I call Shikhar Dhawan as the odd one out? Because he never had hair enough to pull a fade cut.
Why not R Ashwin or Ambati Rayudu? Because these guys have never ever changed their style.
But, Jaddu has always been a fashionable cricketer and this time, he just decided to not give a damn towards the latest fade.
Anyway, that's all for the story.
