Human nature is a fascinating thing or probably, an exciting feeling for those of us humans. We find gratification amongst countless things. And most of them fuel us as we strive to live. It's necessary for one to feed on to something to perform any task. And a task of living a life, I don't know what's mightier than that. The concept of rewarding a person for their actions and deeds came into being due to the reason mentioned above. It is a gesture towards the recipient to acknowledge the fact that he has done or achieved something that is of significance. That we would want it to be repeated, if possible. The gesture also instils hope and determination amongst others to follow the lead.
So is the case in the world of media and entertainment, where artists are acknowledged for their fantastic work. And since this nation's seen a lot many of them, an award ceremony that exclusively caters to the music industry and independent arts was a thing missing on the entertainment awards radar. Thought by many as India's very own Grammy, Artist Aloud was initiated by Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. six years ago.
Hosted by the jaunty RJ Rohini from Radio Nasha and RJ Glen from Fever 104FM, the musical spectacle became further exceptional as they lit everyone with their hilarious quips.
Enchanting performances enthralled the audience and wanting for more as original songs were performed live. The list was framed with Shibani Kashyap (Kya Nazakat Hai, Don't Drink & Drive, Bakhuda), Shirley Setia (Tu Mil Gaya), Jasbir Jassi (Heer, Bulleya), ACE (Second to None, Mumbai Cypher, All We Need is Love) and Tochi Raina (Mann Dagar Dagar, Sone Piya) drove the audience crazy. At the same time, soulful renditions by Mame Khan (Kesariya Balam, Ghoomar, Chaap Tilak) and Dhvani Bhanushali (Kismat, Mann Bharya) hypnotised the audience.
Among the glittery guest list, Hard Kaur was the north star. And undeniably, she was also on the list of nominees. As she grasped two awards, the exuberant Kaur said, "I am very thankful to the ladies who made this happen, they have been supporting me for years. Today is a good day because these awards recognise the talent in the artiste and behind the artiste. I think the best part of the show, apart from winning my awards, was the hosts, if you can't get hosts like that then you can never win it."
Other dignitaries from the music industry stalwarts present at the ceremony were Vinod Bhanushali (Global President, Marketing, Media & Publishing, T-Series) and Gaurav Sharma (Chief Programming Officer - Fever FM, Radio Nasha, Fever Entertainment & FAT Productions).
Jaswinder Singh is so good at what he does that one is lost every time as s/he listens to his fervent ghazals. As he won the award for the Best Album for his 'Eternal', a humble Jaswinder said, "This is the first time that one of my albums has been awarded, it is very special to me. The atmosphere and performances were great, and I really enjoyed the show. This album is inspired by my fans, teachers and my father Shri Kuldeep Singh as well as my dear friend Alok Shrivastav's poetry."
She's a force to reckon with. It wouldn't be wrong if I say Shirley Setia is one of the most powerful emerging talents of this era. Besides winning the award for the Best Hindi Single in the Jury Category, she also won many hearts with her dazzling live performance on the stage. Speaking to the audience, the ever-bubbly girl said, "This is the first time I am attending the awards and it was my first time being nominated as well. It was also absolutely amazing to perform and winning was like the cherry on top of the cake. I believe the award belongs to the whole team and my fans as much as it belongs to me. This track is inspired by the emotion of spontaneity, 'do it, no regrets'."
Ajay Gehi is a household name as an actor. But when he won the award for the Best Independent Artist (Male) in the Consumer category, the ecstatic Ajay Gehi said, "As an actor, when I heard that my song was nominated in two categories, I was very excited. The song, which is 800 words, has been written in one night itself, without a scribble or rethinking, the quest to find the right kind of music took a month or so, the recording was a 2-hour process, which was easy. Winning an award for this track is wonderful, I am speechless today!"
Soumini Sridhara Paul, VP of Artist Aloud was the perfect example of balance between being ecstatic and poised. At the event, she stated, "Since the inception of our platform, we have always endeavoured to handpick the best content to our audience and give the best opportunities to our talent. We believe that music and talent go beyond what's commercially available. It is the same conviction that has been the foundation of Artist Aloud Music Awards. This year we lauded the brilliance and the exceptional voice of Independent Music's most loved artists. And it is our resolve to continue doing the same in the coming years."
The glorious event was also attended by various industry talents like Shibani Kashyap, Setia, Tochi Raina, Jasbir Jassi, Dhvani Bhanushali and many others.
The ever-blissful Suneeta Rao also graced the event with her presence.
If you know Luke Kenny before Rock On happened, you'd know the caucasian-looking actor carried potential since a long time. Kenny was present at the event too besides a host of others and supported and encouraged the cosmic affair.
Alobo Naga stunned the audience by collecting three awards on the very night! Besides many other winners, Aabha Hanjura won the Best Folk award in the jury category and Preeti Bhalla for Best Pop.
The event was a perfect example of the music industry showcasing the best talent of the day. It was streamed live on Hungama.com, Hungama Music and the Facebook pages of Hungama.com and Artist Aloud.
