How can leftover bottles, waste containers or broken crockery be put to good use? You may have some ideas, but definitely nothing close to Prachi Selot's.
Prachi Selot is a young lady who is obsessed with left-over bottles since her childhood. Her obsession gave her the idea of personalising waste objects like liquor bottles, other scrap containers and converting them into a masterpiece.
Even I was, when I saw her personalised bottles for the first time. Her designs were so impressive that I decided to talk to her. And here I am with some incredible crafts by her that will surely leave an impression on your mind.
NOTE: This story may give you the chills to redecorate their home.
Prachi Selot, 24, holds multiple degrees like M.Com, Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations & Corporate Communications from Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai and is also a CA final year student. It was her obsession for bottles that initiated her to set up The Bottle Boutique N8ngle. Indore based creative store, N8ngle is an abridged form of Nightingale and English translation of Bulbul which is what Prachi's parents call her.
For Prachi, every bottle has a potential, as it can be used in countless ways. With this in mind, she customises items that can be used as home decor like lamps, centre pieces, flower pots, and also as wall partition. She also tenders personalised souvenirs for special events like Mother's Day, Father's Day, birthdays, weddings and also for festivals like Diwali.
Designing is the most significant part of Prachi's work, which is why she pays her utmost attention to it. She does not consider repeating her designs.
Currently, she is working on creating houses, i.e., a set of 10-15 customised pieces based on an identical theme. Also, she has begun customising chipped crockery.
One thing that I admire the most about Prachi is the way she works.
When I asked her how does she know what her clients like, she said that when people come with an enquiry, she talks to them in detail to figure out their likes and dislikes.
So far, Prachi has designed antiques on themes like Marvel, Bollywood-Hollywood celebrities, on series of American sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and drama series Game of Thrones, and also on subjects like mathematics, physics et cetera.
"Understanding people gives me joy. While talking to them, I narrow down the concept, and that concept is designed on the bottles," says Prachi Selot.
There are times when people are clear about what kind of designs they need. In such cases, Prachi doesn't have to work much, but if the models are new and complicated, the prices differ accordingly. Bottles with basic design costs somewhere between Rs 700 and Rs 5,000.
The most expensive customised bottle Prachi has ever sold is a set of 8 bottles based on the Marwari theme, priced at Rs 1,000 per bottle.
N8ngle has worked with numerous clients and has a steady customer stand in cities like Indore, Gurugram, Pune, Mumbai, Goa, Delhi, Kerala, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Padukkottai and many more.
Prachi has gifted customised bottles to superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salim Khan and Randeep Hooda. But her best memory is when she met Bollywood baadshah, Shah Rukh Khan and asked why he always makes a straight face in his selfies? To this, SRK's reply was, "I don't smile for free, BABY."
*Obviously, if SRK is calling somebody 'baby,' who would forget it?*
When I asked Prachi where she sees N8ngle in upcoming years, she said that she perceives it as an online platform that offers a large variety of products, all upcycled.
"Waste management is my contribution to the country I live in," Prachi shared. After setting up her enterprise, Prachi has plans to collaborate with waste management consultancies and work for the development of the country.
Isn't her work amazing?
That's all, folks. I hope you liked the story.
