Every lover in India, has only one inspiration, BOLLYWOOD!
A Hindu boy falls in love with a Muslim girl on the Ghats of Banaras. He is desperate to be in a relationship with her, enough to ask his friend to help him make her fall in love. But just when he thinks that the girl has fallen in love with him, her father sends her to study in another city. There she falls in love with someone else...
I know, the synopsis of this film is the same as most Bollywood films, but if you believe in unrequited one-sided love, heartbreak and hoping till the last breath that the girl would one day reciprocate love, Raanjhanaa is the perfect movie for you.
How about we take a look this Banarasi love story...
Zoya: ...Or suno, tumhari consistency ki vajah se mil rahe hai. Pyaar mein nahi.
Kundan: Are kisi ke liye bhi milo, milo to sahi!
Kundan was deeply in love with Zoya. As they say, pyaar insaan se kya kuch nahi karwata.. and so he lied to Zoya about being a Muslim.
Until this point, Kundan was an innocent lover, but soon he turned into, "Kehdo ki tumhe pyaar nahi hai. Abhi kalai kaat denge..."
Obviously, she didn't let him die.
Zoya went away, Kundan cried... But wait! This isn't the whole story. It is just the beginning because...
From here, the film took a turn towards passionate love.
"Saut aa rahi hai teri laut ke Bindiya!"
"Kutte mar jaa uss kutiya ke peeche..."
"You're mad! Aisa kuch nahi hai. FORGET ME," screams Zoya.
To this, our poor summer child, uneducated Kundan replies, "YOU FORGET ME!" *Hoping it means I Love You*
This was Murari, Kundan's best friend and his saviour.
At the hospital, Zoya's friend comes to see Kundan and informs that Zoya didn't want to marry the doctor.
Being Zoya's saviour, he somehow manages to save her from the marriage.
What will happen to you if the girl you love reveals that she loves somebody else?
Well, that is what happens to Kundan.
Well, the man here was a politician. And everyone knows what happens when you mess with a minister.
After a long messed up story, Zoya intends to let Kundan die. Yes, you read it right. SHE LETS HIM DIE. His last words will break your heart...
"Ye jo murda si aakhein liye bethi hai bagal me, aaj bhi haan bolde toh Mahadev ki kasam wapas aa jaayein. Par ab saala mood nahi..."
I WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE AGAIN! *crying out loud*
