Words are a powerful medium of communication and have the power to bring peace to the world for its betterment. We all have come across examples of great orators such as Mahatma Gandhi or Martin Luther King who used their power of speech to change the world. Evidently, one can only hone the skill of persuading people through exposure, perspective, and reading. In order to be capable of delivering a good speech or be a good storyteller for that matter, you ought to be a good reader first.
Talking about its importance for children, reading allows an individual to explore the uncharted waters of the world, change their perception, and most importantly succeed in life.
Children today, need to be taught the importance of reading. It has become crucial in today's times that they evolve with the rapidly changing world. You wouldn't disagree on the point that it's not easy to convince children to do something, right? Well, let me take you on a journey taken up by artists with an intent to make a dent in the world with Tata Motors.
Recently, Tata Motors had initiated a campaign where they asked people to speak up their aspirations, and among the entries, they shortlisted six of them. The six lucky aspirants who were chosen had different dreams such as providing shelter to stray animals, creating an entirely new cuisine, dealing with thermodynamics, etcetera. There's one thing common in all though – CHANGE!
Why can't we change how things function? Well, Tata Motors chose to do it for the entire country. The company carries the philosophy of vehicles being much more than just a way to commute, rather how it can contribute to peoples lives and enhance them. Here's how the journey begins.
Talking about the shortlisted people on a journey to achieve their dreams and connect aspirations, Kit and Tipriti first went to Meghalaya and reconnected with their Khasi musical roots. Then Arpit and Atul started off with their journeys being a part of #ConnectingAspirations initiative.
Arpit (author) strongly believes that children have lost the habit of reading and Atul (a theatre artist) wants to re-imagine storytelling and rekindle the joy of reading in kids. Arpit firmly believes that each child has an innate ability to perceive a story uniquely and more upliftment needs to be there so that they can develop the habit of reading other than the academic literature.
Atul insisted on interpreting a story through a different lens and how one story doesn't have a single theme. But, it can be perceived through the lens of comedy, horror, suspense, etc. Lastly, to help children read a story, and imagine their original version of it, the two re-enacted "Tirakhte phool" (children's tale) tale in three different styles to portray how words can be brought to life in a multitude of ways.
