Fire broke out in a furnace oil factory, fireworks factory and a plastic factory in Sector 3, 5 and 1, respectively of Bawana industrial area in Delhi.

The fire is reported to have broken out around 3.30 pm, but it was around 6.20 pm that the Delhi Fire Services received the call. The fire was contained around 7 pm, but 17 people had died till then.
