Do you remain flabbergasted by the luxurious life of your favourite celebrity? I know most of us are. But do you know that a celebrity's life is not just about glamour and glitz, parties and holidays, but several other things that most of us are unaware of?
Like mostly every other day we come across various rumors and news stories concerning celebrities' involvement in drug or alcohol addiction. This directly or indirectly affects their career and life. You will be surprised to know that some got so much indulged into such addictions that they had to go to rehabilitation centers for detoxification. There are even stories of celebrities going to health and rescue centers for their personal grooming.
So let's read about such celebrities who have stories about being into rehab. Some of these tales were shared by the stars themselves while some beans were spilled by the media.
In 2008, Fardeen Khan became the first Bollywood star who was sent to a detox programme. It all started in 2001 when he was caught red-handed buying cocaine in Juhu, Mumbai. Later, he was given two choices by the Mumbai court- to attend a jail sentence for six months or go for drug rehabilitation. Fardeen chose to go for drug detoxification programme.
According to a report by The Times of India, Sanjay Dutt shared his memory of being in rehab. He said, "My journey with substance abuse has been about 12 years. There are no drugs in the world that I have not done. When my father took me to America (for rehab), they gave me a list (of drugs) and I ticked every drug on it, because I had taken all of them. The doctor told my dad, 'What kind of food do you eat in India? Going by the drugs he did, he should be dead by now!"
Among the famous comedians of the country, Kapil Sharma has attended an anti-toxification treatment at an ayurvedic center. The treatment that was supposed to last for 40 days was cut-short by him in just 12 days. Sources said he was feeling better in just 12 days and so he left early.
In a column published in Mid-Day by Prateik Babbar, he said, "I realised I hadn't looked myself in the eye ever since I started getting high. Following multiple episodes that made me feel like a miserable prisoner of drugs, I decided to finally seek professional help. My family refused to see their loved one attempt to slowly kill himself and encouraged me to sign up for rehab."
In the year 2006, entertainer Rahul Mahajan was in judicial custody as he was indulged in systematic and organised trafficking of drugs. During an investigation, it came forward that Mahajan's blood sample report claimed that he had consumed heroin. It was said that he needs professional help for rehabilitation.
Indian actor Ashmit Patel who appears in Bollywood films and was also seen on the reality show Bigg Boss has been in rehab to recover from a knee injury.
There were reports in the year 2015 that superstar Ranbir Kapoor was attending some therapeutic non-smoking sessions at the Original FX Mayr Health Center in Austria. It is said that Ranbir started attending the sessions there on the insistence of Katrina.
Actress Shweta Prasad spent two months at a government-run rescue and rehabilitation center for women in Hyderabad in connection with a sex racket. Shweta was visibly relieved after she left the rehab. "I can't tell you what a huge relief the verdict is for me and for my family. The court has quashed all the charges against me and it feels great to have been vindicated. For the first time in many months, I'm relieved to see a smile on my parents' face," said the actress according to The Times of India.
Remember when in 2017, party music sensation of India Yo Yo Honey Singh suddenly disappeared? There were rumors that in the time, Yo Yo was in rehab because of the drug overdose detoxification. In an interview, he also revealed that the months that he had been away, were the darkest months of his life.
These stories are the perfect example of the proverb that says the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. We all tend to find our favourite celebrity's life far more exciting and successful. But the truth is that even they have hard times.
