Nawazuddin Siddiqui has a strike resemblance to the Shiv Sena's guiding force and supremo Bal Thackeray. The reason why this teaser is a big deal to share and celebrate is the fact that after so many articles and statements mentioned on Nawazuddin's exemplary performances, finally, he is playing a lead role in a film.
The teaser of the film was uploaded to the actor's Twitter handle where he couldn't thank much for the opportunity to play a character as strong as the Tiger who ruled the state of Maharashtra.
In the first shot, we see a kid crying and suddenly something happens that dramatically stops his mourns and wails. Later, streets that have blood flowing on them, dirty slippers, and muddy roads grab the attention.
The teaser ends with a large population that gathers together to hear Nawazuddin Siddiqui who portrays Bal Thackeray on the screen. As far as the set and look are concerned, it cannot be grander than this.
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray, and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut attended the glittering launch function of the teaser in Mumbai on Thursday evening.
Bal Keshav Thackeray dominated and had a deep-rooted control over entire Maharashtra's politics for four decades. A firm believer of Hinduism and an admirer of Adolf Hitler was also known for his cartoons and writings. He was a great orator too.
Hindu Hriday Samraat (Emperor of Hindu Hearts) is the title that people gave him.
He was an integral part of the 'Samyukta Maharashtra' movement which emphasised on the creation of a separate linguistic state, Maharashtra.
Despite the fact that his party is one of the most controversial parties in India, the political will-power that Thackeray possessed made him a mascot. He once quoted:
"Give me one day and I will solve the problem of Kashmir."
But, the suggestions and ideologies of this man made him stand apart from the other influential political leaders. His take on the Babri Masjid issue really made a point where he amicably suggested that instead of fighting for the disputed land, there must be a hospital constructed or a monument dedicated to Mangal Pandey.
The functioning bodies in Maharashtra received a lot of support from him, right from the grass-root level. He gave rise to India's richest municipal corporation, the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation).
Bal Thackeray had a strong connection with Bollywood's megastar Amitabh Bachchan. He also supported Sanjay Dutt during the time of crisis, it is also said that the Sarkar film series was based on his life.
Bal Thackeray is known for having an open-minded personality. He always spoke his heart out to his people. A straightforward attitude with no cuts and censored thoughts.
He liberated the Mumbai trade union from the clutches of left parties and instilled a political union aka 'Marathi Manoos' flavour in the system.
His statements on being a follower of Hitler often ignited controversies. Balasaheb also showed tad bit separatist attitude towards North Indians and South Indians as well.
He breathed his last on November 17, 2012, at his residence 'Matoshree' in suburban Bandra in Mumbai when he suffered a cardiac arrest. Millions of people stepped out of their houses to witness the procession.
The commercial business was shut on the dark day and Shiv Sena faced a major loss as its chief breathed his last.
The short teaser literally gave me goosebumps, and I am waiting for the film to hit the theatres already. It is scheduled to release on January 23, 2019.
