Child trafficking, when not only the child is stolen, but also the dreams and the aspirations. It is not mere transportation of people, but exploitation. It is a deep well, in which the person is pushed, unknowingly by his/her near and dear ones, not realising the dire risk. Childhood is life's most beautiful season and these kids, who get trafficked, out of no knowledge, have to deal with the adult-imposed victimization.
It is high time we start valuing the importance of childhood in the life of each human being. It is the phase that shapes an adult when grown up. A disturbed childhood simply cuts through the fabric of confidence of the human. So, it is our responsibility that we make this world a better stay for the younger beings.
Then there are these startling statistics, which have been brought out by the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation,
- Every hour 2 children are sexually abused in India.
- In 2015, there were 3,490 cases of child trafficking but only 55 convictions and
- Between 2014 and 2016, 23,699 children were liberated from trafficking.
With these startling and disturbing numbers in mind, let us all pledge to work towards eliminating child trafficking from its roots.
Let us all be #Untrafficked and let #KidsTakeOver!
These kids and their innocence get lost in the wilderness of the selfish interest of the so-called mature grown-ups. Those smiling faces must have never thought of the vices or baits coming their way.
Phew! Such gullible is the mind of a child. They see what is shown to them. They dream and also anticipate success for themselves, working harder.
The statistics are so disheartening that all efforts that are done till now need to be aced up. The Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation aims to do just that. This Universal Children's Day, November 20, 2017, they are re-launching the game, '(Un)Trafficked', under which you have to decide on the future of a 13-year-old girl.
The condition of the society is so weak, that there has to be a major support from each one of us in this direction. We have to liberate the children from these vices.
Safety to them seems an alien term. While it should be something otherwise. They too have a right to freedom, to safety and most importantly, education. This will equip them and their mindsets. They will learn to decipher between the right and the wrong.
They have a right to life and are not mere commodities to be traded. Let us all pledge together to grant freedom to the kids in terms of all aspects of life, social, health, political, cultural, economic and civic.
Child trafficking is just one face of the problem, but it should be addressed the quickest. It is what drives the future of the world. Let no pure soul drift away into the pit of this inhumanity.
Let us all unite and speak up against child trafficking.
