Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based Virgin Hyperloop One to identify possible routes for Hyperloop.
What is Hyperloop? Hyperloop is a tunnel float which is built higher than the track that allows magnetic energy to the vehicles in it so that they can travel at a rapid speed.
Now what is interesting is that a normal bullet train travels a 300-km belt in an hour, but with this 1,000-km-per-hour-hyperloop, the time interval say 150-km from Mumbai to Pune can be traveled in 14 minutes. Amazing, isn't it?
So, come on, here is everything you need to know about this Hyperloop MoU.
Maharashtra government has signed MoU with a US firm to identify potential routes, its economic impact and technical viability of hyper-loop transportation.
For example, the route between Mumbai and Pune which normally takes 3 hours by car, would take just 14 minutes.
Earlier, Andhra Pradesh government had also signed a MoU with Hyperloop One for travelling between the cities of Vijayawada and Amaravati.
It is believed that Hyperloop in Andhra Pradesh could enable travel from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam or Bengaluru in 27 and 45 minutes, respectively.
Hyperloop technology was actually proposed by inventor and businessman Elon Musk, owner of electric car company Tesla and the commercial space transport company SpaceX.
US, Finland, Canada, the Netherlands and the UAE are among those countries that are already working with Hyperloop One.
