A wise man once said that one of the greatest titles in the world is 'Parent'. And one of the biggest blessings in the world is to have parents. They are a crucial part of our lives who we love the most. But most of the time we are incapable of showing the same to them. So, those who show, deserve admiration.
Yes! And this is what I have for you, a tale that speaks about the love between parents and their children. This is a story about a girl who in order to save her father's life, donated him her liver. Moved, right? Well, this is how we felt. So, to applaud her for the step she took, we reached out to her and recorded her journey.
Trust me, this girl is an inspiration in the true sense.
Pooja Shriram Bijarnia is an MBA graduate who is currently working with Reliance Jio. In the conversation, she expressed that her biggest dream is to make the country proud, especially in the sports vertical.
Pooja shared with WittyFeed, how her parents never discriminated against their children, "In fact, they love their daughters more than their son." She conveyed that her father has always pushed her for being confident and positive and taught her never to quit. Recalling some childhood moments, she said that her father always motivated her to participate in in-house and outdoor school competitions.
Sharing the obstacles, she said that due to lack of good treatment, the family changed three hospitals, which later caused jaundice to convert into Liver Cirrhosis. Finally, the family then came across Dr. Aabha Nagral who recommended the family to go for a liver transplant. Dr. Aabha then introduced them to a surgical team as well.
His legs were all swelled, and his skin got darken. He even lost his drastic weight. He then started getting peritoneal ascites, that is the accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity (layer of thin tissue that lines the inside of the tummy). Things got worse when he started suffering from hallucinations and low blood pressure. The medicines caused diabetes too. It all resulted in countless restless nights and his body with lack of energy.
She revealed that, her mother was very firm about donating her liver to her husband.
"She already does so much for the family so, it's better not to put her into more soreness," added Pooja.
Pooja has three sisters and a younger brother. As soon as they realized the need for transplants, the sisters started wrangling to donate their liver. Finally, the decision came in Pooja's favor. "I had a gut feeling that my liver would match up to his." She then underwent 12-15 tests from hair to toe, and after all the positive results, she became eligible to further go for surgery.
"Keeping him away from sweets is really difficult for Mumma. But yes, he is back now with no more hallucinations, depression, and almost absence of any liver issue. He is leading a happy and an extra caring life now," Pooja shared.
Pooja shared how her father always wanted her to be a good human. "He didn't know I was donating my liver to him. He came to know about it post the surgery, and when he saw me, I captured his glance and yes, I could see that bright spark of happiness in his eyes and with a wide smile."
"During my office hours, Dad calls me up before time every day and asks me to leave the office early and travel safely. Momma becomes so happy when I come home early, or I stay back home... Now he proudly speaks out about us and our surgery," Pooja shared.
Opt for organ donation, it feels awesome to become a purpose of someone's being.
We truly appreciate what you did for your father, Pooja. Kudos to a girl like you.
