The Central Bureau of Investigation on 8th November, captured a Class XI student of Gurgaon, Haryana's Ryan International School in connection with the frightful murder of the seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur. He was taken in for interrogation by the investigative agency on 7th November, Tuesday night.
Earlier, the Gurgaon Police arrested a conductor Ashok Kumar, 42, accused of committing the crime. The arrest of the Class XI student has astonished everyone.
It was after sustained pressure from the parents that the Manohar Lal Khattar, chief minister of Haryana transferred the murder case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
"After thorough investigation based on scientific evidence, including inspection of the scene of the crime, forensic analysis, analysis of CCTV and call records, CBI apprehended the student," said CBI spokesperson, Abhishek Dayal.
In a statement, the CBI said an initial investigation into the case has revealed that the "child in the conflict of the law wanted to have the examination and parent-teacher meeting in the school postponed."
A class 2 student was found dead in a pool of blood in the washroom of Ryan International School in Gurugram on 1st September morning. The kid was identified as seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur whose body was found around 8 am by another student who went to use the washroom. The boy's throat had been slit and a knife was found next to the body.
As reported by News18, the XI class boy asked Pradyuman to come to the toilet and slit his throat. He claims he wanted to save Pradyuman and that's why he informed the gardener.
According to News18, the XI class boy was the only one who informed authorities about the injured boy. Even after informing the authorities, he didn't reach classroom for almost 30 minutes. He took a route which was different from the one taken regularly. Other statements of the students also corroborated with the CCTV footage that the Class XI student was seen in the toilet with Pradyuman. After the incident, the conduct of the boy was not normal.
"I have always cooperated with the probe. My son's statement was recorded under Section 164. They called me late at night and arrested my son saying that he committed the murder. My son is innocent, in fact, he informed the teacher and gardener when he saw the child (Pradyuman). No blood was found on my son's clothes. My son has not done it, CBI has no evidence against him I was not allowed to see him," the father stated.
The student will now be represented before the Juvenile Justice Board in the afternoon, where the court is expected to decide whether he is to be treated as a major or a minor as per the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
According to News 18, days after the killing, Gurgaon Police arrested the conductor and claimed they had managed to secure a confession from the conductor - Ashok Kumar. The conductor's family claimed that he was being framed.
