The Supreme Court today, has announced the new norms to worship at Mahakal, Ujjain. One of the norms includes that only RO water can be offered as Jalabhishek.
Earlier, a petition was registered regarding the shrinking of Shiv Lingam due to excess worshipping materials. There are a few more norms that every worshipper needs to follow while visiting the temple. Have a look at them!
The entire story dates back to when Sarika Guru of Ujjain filed a petition that the Lingam is getting eroded day by day.
Archaeological Survey of India and Geological Survey of India were asked to study the problem. It was concluded that the water that was offered had bacteria which lead to the erosion.
The amount of water must not exceed 500 ml. It is also reported that the Shivling needs to be covered with dry cotton cloth during 'Bhasma Aarti' because the ashes are affecting the linga very badly.
'Abhishek' will be allowed to offer milk or 'Panchamrut' in a certain quantity to every devotee.
That's all, people.
Next time you visit Ujjain keep these things in mind.
