Padma Vibhushan awardee, Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh took his last breath on 16th September 2017. After the death of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in June 2008, he was the only living Indian military officer with a five-star rank.

According to reports, Singh suffered a massive cardiac arrest and was rushed to the Army Hospital, Research and Referral, in New Delhi this morning. His condition was stated to be "critical" by the doctors.

Various esteemed and noteworthy figures of the country tweeted and showed their condolence to the family, some even visited the hospital where he was admitted.
