On 26 May 2014, Narendra Modi took an oath as Prime Minister of India. Since then, his entire team of cabinet ministers and diplomats have met so many dignitaries across the world that it is hard to count them on fingers.
According to protocol, whenever a leader visits another nation, they carry some exotic and expensive gifts along with them as a token of love. Especially, when they're visiting the country for the first time; or they're visiting to meet the newly elected leader of that nation.
The tradition to exchange gifts is very old, which leaders follow globally. In India, not only Narendra Modi but senior-level bureaucrats and advisors have received gifts as part of the tradition.
A comparative study made by website - RTIwala.com - has revealed that the diplomats get more expensive gifts than Prime Minister of India.

Narendra Modi has received so many valuable things from the world leaders. In return, he has gifted nothing very expensive to them, saving a lot of money of the tax payers.
One of the costliest gifts, which Sonia Gandhi has received is a wrist watch (Franek Muller, Geneve) on February 21, 2014. It is valued at Rs 6,00,000. It is handed over to Toshakhana. Toshakhana or treasure house is a place which takes care of the expensive gifts received by representatives of the nation.
The former defence minister has received many gifts out of which the one notable ones are the pair of Gio Monaco Geneva wrist watches, one set of earrings, a ring, bracelet, cuff buttons and one pen.
According to RTIwala blogs, the total worth of these gifts is 3,40,000.
The chief of Indian air force, Arup Raha, has received one Breitling 1884 Blackbird wrist watch which is worth Rs 4,10,000. He has handed over this gift to Toshakhana.
He also received the wrist watch (Breitling) which costs approximately Rs 1,00,000.
If we start to count the numbers of small-big gifts which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received, then it may take the entire day or a week and a month to count all of them.
However, some notable gifts include; Gold and diamond made cufflink, one box containing jewellery set (one necklace and a pair of ear ring), a unique model of Hyundai Equus car. The total worth of all these gifts is approximately Rs 45,75,000.
Ms Sujata has received one Hublot wrist watch which has worth of 3,25,000 in Indian rupees.
She has received, a lady watch (make Chanel) and men sports watch (make Ebel) in gifts. Both of them collectively has the worth of 6,00,000 /- rupees.
He received, a Rolex watch (Oyster perpetual DATEJUS Model 116334) which has the worth of INR 1,50,000 /-.
He has received a lot of the gifts as well, and one of them includes Oyster Perpetual "Date Just" wrist watch. This expensive gift has the worth of INR 2,40,000 /-.
Two Cartier's wrist watch, received by Shri Pratik Mathur, OSD and Shri Abhishek Shukla, Dy. Chief of Protocol(c), MEA. Both the watch costs 4,00,000 each.
The other two officials, Dr Naveet Wig, PP to PM, AIIMS+Dr. Gautam Sharma, Alt. PP to PM received the two other watches having the worth of 9,00,000 /- in Indian rupees.
