Most of Bollywood thrives either on nepotism or good looks, but not every struggling actor becomes an Aliaa Bhatt or Varun Dhawan.
While some actors do manage to get an early start, they are not always successful in making a name for self in the industry.
Here are few artists who performed remarkable roles when they entered the industry as a child, but growing up they seem to have lost their charm.
As a child Kunal Khemu acted in movies like Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), Raja Hindustani (1996) and Zakhm (1998). However, his career after he grew up has not been so good. He is yet to enjoy what is considered to be Bollywood stardom.
He made his Bollywood debut as a child actor in Mr India (1987). He was then seen in movies like Awwal Number, Shahensha, Chaalbaaz and Insaniyat. He made a comeback in 2001 with Kasoor, but none of his films have been remarkable.
Saeed was chosen from among 200 children to play Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee's daughter in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). She was also seen in Badal (2000) and Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega (2000).
In 2012, she made a comeback with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year, but failed to touch audience's hearts. She was last seen in the dance show Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa.
Imran Khan was first seen in the film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992).
Khan's debut film as as lead actor was Jane Tu Ya Jane Na opposite Genelia D'souza, and was a success at box office. He then acted in films like Luck, Break K Baad but none of his performances made an impact on the audience.
Jugal Hansraj started his career in 1983 with the movie Masoom, where he played the role of Naseeruddin Shah's illegitimate child. However, his comeback into the industry after he grew up has not been memorable. Even his directorial ventures have not been so successful. His most memorable role is in Mohabbatein (2000).
Hansika began her career with a serial called Shaka Laka Boom Boom. She then appeared in Koi Mil Gaya. Her first movie as the lead was Aap Kaa Surroor opposite Himesh Reshammiya, which was a moderate hit. Failing to make a name in Bollywood, she can now be seen in Tamil films.
Parzan Dastur is the little sardar from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai whose one dialogue left us all teary-eyed. However, even his career graph has not seen any other successful movie. His role in Sikandar (2009) went unnoticed. He was last seen in the movie Break Ke Baad playing the role of young Imran Khan.
As Shreyas Talpade's sister in Iqbal and Chunni in Makdee, actor Shweta Prasad captured our hearts with her tremendous acting skills in her teens. She even bagged a National Award in 2003 for Makdee.
She was arrested for her alleged involvement in a sex racket in 2014 but was then given a clean chit. Failing to make a mark in Bollywood, she is now seen in serial Chandra Nandini on Star Plus.
Remember Sanju and his magic pencil from Shaka Laka Boom Boom? Kinshuk Vaidya became really popular for playing that role. He then acted in Ajay Devgn and Kajol starrer Raju Chacha, but the film did not do well. With hardly any offer from Bollywood, he made a comeback on television with Ek Rishta Sajhedhari Ka on Sony TV in 2016.
We all remember the song Hum Kale Hai To Kya Hua... from the film Brahmachari for Mohammad Naim's dance. Naim is also referred to as Junior Mehmood. But even this name has not got him any lead roles. Now, he produces Marathi films and performs stage shows.
