Bollywood movie trailers have always been exciting. A trailer is basically a sneak peek of a movie, which consists of certain scenes that throw hints about the storyline. The exercise is aimed to generate excitement and draw more people to cinema halls.
But a good trailer is no guarantee that movie will be a super hit.
In my view, sometimes it happens that Bollywood shows us 'Chicken Tikka' and serves us 'Dal Khichdi'. What I meant is that some Bollywood movies have amazing trailers but their movies flop at the box office.
Most movie fans eagerly wait to watch movies. But they come out broken heart because of poor storyline and presentations.
WittyFeed brings you a list of movies, which bombed at the box office though their trailers generated curiosity.
Have a look.
The trailer of 'Begum Jaan' was released on March 14, 2017. It was released just a month before the movie screening. But the movie did not prove to be a blockbuster due to its serious ending. Though the movie had a strong message to deliver, it did not impress the audience.
I guess, horror movies in Bollywood industry often fail to scare the audience. 'Alone' movie which was released on January 16, 2015, starring Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover, flopped. Two things in the movie were missing, the fear and the ghost. Its trailer with typical steamy scenes made the movie an awaited one.
'Tevar' trailer released in November 2014 had all elements of a big hit. The star cast of 'Tevar', which included Sonakshi Sinha and Arjun Kapoor was expected to deliver good results. But it did not succeed on the big screen. Actor Manoj Bajpai's role was appreciated though.
'Baar Baar Dekho' was released on September 9, 2016, but its trailer and songs gained fame in very less time. Its song 'Kala Chashma' added some spice to the movie. This film is another example of a great trailer but a bad movie.
'Bombay Velvet' was expected to be a hit because of its star cast and the fact that it was directed by Anurag Kashyap. But the movie was not able to engage the audience. Rather, it disappointed them.
Prior to its release on October 9, 2015, the movie 'Jazbaa' generated high expectations as it was Aishwarya's comeback film and also had Irrfan Khan. But the movie flopped.
'Befikre' was released on March 9, 2016, in which Ranveer Singh and Vani Kapoor played lead roles. The trailer was steaming hot that showed Ranveer and Vani kissing on streets and having fun. It was expected to be a thrilling movie but it did not impress the audience.
'Hero' was a remake of 1980's movie, which was released on September 25, 2015. It was produced by Salman Khan who launched Suraj Pancholi son of Aditya Pancholi and Athiya Shetty. The title song gathered attention but the movie failed on the big screen.
'Shandaar' released in 2015 was directed by Vikas Bahl who had produced blockbuster 'Queen' in 2014. The star cast of Shaandar was promising but the movie failed. According to
Times of India, it was a cruel joke by Bahl on his unsuspecting audience.
