Vivek Kumar Patel, who could study till class XII, started to work at bike repairing shop soon after. Vivek would conduct experiments with bike's engine. He is not from a wealthy background, as his family survives on the yields of a 3-acre farm land it owns.

Since Vivek was always interested in doing things the unconventional way, he worked on bringing changes in motorcycles' engines. Three years back, when he was testing his own efforts, it turned out that the mileage of the engine had increased to 153 kilometres per litre.

As per Vivek, now the technique invented by him after several iterations during the course of 17 years is able to increase a vehicle's mileage from 1.5 to 2 times. So, he got what he deserved.

Government approval

Council of Science And Technology (UPCST), Lucknow, and Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, approved the design and now they are working towards improving the engine efficiency further and commercialising it.

Mechanical Engineering Department of Motilal Institute conducted the test on the engine, which Vivek improved. And the results supported the claims he made. Sandeep Dwivedi, Innovation Officer (UPCST), stated this.

The universities and departments have now applied for the patent of the same and intend to use it for manufacturing generators. Even incubation centres have shown interest in Patel's project.

SMVDU of Katra has now registered Vivek's project as a startup. A B-tech graduate Aakash will be assisting in the project further.

...the concept works on supplying less petrol through the pipe. It not only consumes less petrol in this way but even avoids overheating of the engine. And, if you're thinking that it would affect the speed or pick-up capabilities, then it doesn't.  

But the engine works fine and now even has a grant.

SMVDU TBIC has granted a sum of Rs 75 lakh for the project. Other colleges have shown willingness to contribute.
