Being a celebrity in a country like India comes with its own pros and cons. Especially when you're a Muslim, you'd be watched, noticed, appreciated and criticized when something unusual happens.
But you can't and shouldn't stop living, right?
Recently, the left arm Indian swing bowler posted a selfie with his wife Saba Baig for the first time on his Facebook handle and what followed was traumatic. Endless people criticizing and blaming him for letting his wife show half her face and probably one fourth of her arms. I'm not even kidding you, this really happened!
A series of Muslims even wanted him to give up Islam because he let his wife wear nail polish and therefore, disrespected his religion.
It is unbelievable and yet we live in a world where we talk about ''equality'' and "women empowerment" on a daily basis. Ironic?
What followed in the form of comments was no less than a debacle.
I've sliced out some of the most ridiculous comments that were posted under the comments section of this beautiful picture. Get ready to lose your mind after reading the below mentioned.
What Islamic roles is this man talking about? Girls covered like diamonds, do you live under a rock or what?
Sick. This is just sick and demeaning.
What do you do of such people? Yes, we here in India live in a secular country and we're glad the Muslims here do not think like you.
And then they expect people to respect their religion, but women are not your property. Start respecting them.
So now some of these people who think of themselves to be extremely religious, try and explain Irfan how nail polish, is non religious.
Well, he doesn't need to. He is sensible enough and its his life. Also, why are we all forgetting that it's his wives life too?
Utterly disgusting, such people gross me out.
Wait, how will you? In the name of religion, treating women like your property and objects, is that fair?
Why? Are men so intolerant that a mere sight of a woman arouses them to do something berserk?
So, is calling Irfan Pathan a 'non-Muslim' not too far fetched? Nobody uttered a single word when he went to Mecca and performed Umrah?
Isn't this Islamic enough?
Irfan and Saba, both are believers of their faith and religion, just a mere Facebook post doesn't define anything and people who are accusing him of this, are really the reason why world has turned out to be a bad place to live in.
