Did you know that Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot lost to former Indian actress Tanushree Dutta in 2004 Miss Universe Contest?
Gal Gadot who was crowned as Miss Israel at the age of 18, had represented Israel at the much more prestigious and acclaimed platform of Miss Universe in 2004 when she was 19. But due to lack of interest and being naive about the whole thing, Gadot took the opportunity very lightly and didn't even come among the top 15 winners.
Whereas, Tanushree, who was the winner of Femina Miss India Universe, 2004, went well prepared at the international platform and qualified among top 10. She was the 8th runner up at Miss Universe 2004 contest.
Now, the tables have turned upside down.
The Gal Gadot-starrer film, Wonder Woman, is breaking records at the box office and has earned $223 million in its opening weekend. But Tanushree is nowhere to be seen.
Gal represented Israel in 2004 Miss Universe competition and couldn't make it to even the top 15. While Tanushree made it to the top 10 and went home as the 8th runner-up.
Gal was crowned as Miss Israel when she was only 18. At the tender age of 19, she was representing Israel at a stage, which is much more acclaimed event at international level.
She admitted her "lack of interest" towards the Miss Universe contest. She said, "The responsibility of representing Israel on the global platform took a toll on me and I took it lightly."
Tanushree made her debut in Bollywood with 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' in 2005. She was then seen several movies but they didn't do well at the box office. She was last seen on the big screen in the film, Rama: The Saviour, in 2010.
After this, Tanushree was on a three-year sabbatical. She said, " I've always had a spiritual bent in me since childhood. I was reading a lot on spiritualism. But I guess my chase for B-Town dreams made the spiritual side in me take a back step. When I decided to take a sabbatical, yoga and reading about spirituality helped me discover a new me. I have become more patient and can accept that some things won't change. I have stopped expecting miracles."
From not even making it to the top 15 in the Miss Universe Contest in 2004, Gal has come a long, long way! While Tanushree vanishing from movies completely, Gal has been winning the hearts of audiences globally with her super hit movie, 'Wonder Woman'.
Wonder Woman made records by earning $223 million in opening week. This movie has revolutionised how superhero movies were always male-centric. Also, surprisingly, Gal was five months pregnant while shooting this movie!
