The saga of terrorist attacks doesn't seem to come to an end. In less than a fortnight after the Manchester suicide bombing, another terrorist attack was witnessed as terror struck the London Bridge. As stated by the London police, six people were killed, and over 30 were injured after three attackers ploughed a van into pedestrians, on Saturday, at 10 in the night. Right after this, the attackers stabbed people in Borough Market, which is located in the heart of the British capital. The attackers were reportedly wearing fake bomb vests and after suddenly jumping out from a vehicle, they began stabbing the bystanders and the pub-goers.
Numerous people were stabbed brutally, including an on-duty British Transport Police officer who was responding to the incident at London Bridge. It's shocking that the attack came days ahead of the June 8 election, where national security is supposed to be a major theme.
Borough Market is a well-known plush area, which full of exotic bars, restaurants and pubs. It quite justifies the place being crowded on a weekend. As per the statement by Metropolitan police assistant commissioner for specialist operations, Mark Rowley, "A number of people were stabbed, including an on-duty British Transport Police officer who was responding to the incident at London Bridge."
"Armed officers responded very quickly and bravely, confronting three male suspects who were shot and killed in Borough Market," said Rowley. "The suspects had been confronted and shot by the police within eight minutes of the first call."
The bridge and the surrounding areas have been shut down for a while.
