Crimes are committed every second. But, are all the criminals punished?
Investigators try their best to reach the cause of the crime. But, sometimes crimes remain unsolved even after a thorough investigation. It is unsettling when the reason and the person responsible for the crime remain unknown.
Sadly, the victims fail to get justice and the criminals keep wandering around unpunished.
In January 1996, 9-year-old Amber with her brother Ricky was riding her bike near Arlington grocery store. That day Ricky came back alone at home and Amber went missing. Her body was found after four days sexually assaulted and brutally murdered. Till date no suspects have been found but this led to the origin of Amber Alert, a child abduction alert system.
A 32-year-old prostitute was found dead in Stockholm, Sweden. She was killed by a crushing blow to her skull. But what attracted media was the finding that her autopsy reports suggested. According to them, the murderer had drunk the woman's blood.
In May 1918, a couple was found murdered in their sleep brutally and a blood-covered axe was found near their bodies. The murderer didn't take any valuables after killing the couple and the only clue found was a message written in chalk. After this incident, around eight more people were found dead in a similar manner.
She was called as Black Dahlia because of her beautiful black hair. Short was just 22 when she was found dead. This is the oldest unsolved case in Los Angeles. Her body was found cut in half at the waist and draining with blood at Leimert Park, Los Angeles in January 1947. Investigations pointed towards a number of suspects, but none of them were declared to be guilty.
In 1888, Whitechapel district of the east London saw eleven cruel killings. Surprisingly, all the prostitutes were murdered by the murderer who was tagged as "Jack the Ripper".
In December 1948, an unidentified man was found dead at Somerton beach in Australia. A paper was recovered from his pocket with Taman Shud written on it. Taman Shud means "finished" in Persian. Even after the involvement of various governments, the man was never identified.
A 4 to 6 years old boy was found naked in a box at Susquehanna road in Northeast Philadelphia in February 1957. He got featured on America's Most Wanted. His identity and the murderer still remains undiscovered.
During late 1960s and early 1970s, a serial killer operated majorly in northern California. As reported, four men and three women were targeted by this unidentified killer. He was tagged as Zodiac Killer as he had sent few provoking letters to the Bay area press that included cryptograms in it. Around 2,500 suspects were probed by the cops but, the case still remains unsolved.
In December 1996, six-year-old Jon Benet was found strangled with her head struck at the basement of her family home in Colorado. Even after numerous jury hearings, the murderer still remains unidentified.
In March 1990, two men dressed as cops successfully pulled off one of the biggest robberies in the world history. They gained entry by tricking the museum guards and stole thirteen works of art. The worth of stolen pieces of art is around 500 million dollars. The case remains unsolved with 5 million dollars award still being offered for any information regarding the robbery.
