The following tragic incident you will be reading now is about a toddler trying to feed on his mother's milk. A toddler whose mother reportedly met with a deadly accident on the railway tracks and was found dead. The authorities are still trying to assess the reason of death, but the locals of Damoh stated that they observed a body lying on the railway track at around 6 a.m. on May 24.
It was later when the people around approached the woman's body. They found out she was dead already. Not visible from a distance but after closing the distance in, a little boy was found with her. The child was trying to suck on his mother's breast to drink some milk. The place is in the vicinity of Bhopal almost 250 Kms far in Madhya Pradesh.
The following was the sequence of events which took place after the first witnesses were at the scene.
Anil Marawi, a railway police officer, said, "She died before people found her. The child wasn't injured. She was injured but probably conscious, opened a biscuit packet and gave some to the child. She breastfed her child to ensure he survives; the child wailed aloud when he was separated from his mother."
It appears from the wounds that the mother would've fallen on her head and due to the concussion caused, she lost her life.
The crying baby was then taken to the town's government hospital nearby but they refused to take him in because he did not have Rs 10 to pay the admission fees.
The ward boy Tarun Tiwari who was watching the entire inhuman act made by the officials came forward and paid for the child.
While speaking to the correspondent of HT, Sudhir Vidyarthi, chairperson of the Damoh child welfare committee said they kept talking about rules and that the body of the mother being sent for autopsy.
The chairperson added that they will be publishing notices about the kid and see if any of the family members come forward to support the orphaned. While trying to identify the kid's mother, the police have come across a purse bearing the name of a Tikamgarh jewelry shop.
