Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan celebrated their fifth marriage anniversary on May 19th, 2017. On this auspicious occasion, the founder of Facebook shared his secret marriage story. The story happened to have a flavour of joy to it. Recalling his wedding planning, Mark on his Facebook profile wrote that he and his wife, Priscilla wanted their marriage to be a 'low-key wedding' and that's why they didn't invite too many people. They didn't even tell their family and friends that they have decided to get married and emailed them to come to his backyard for a party. In his post, he wrote, " I sent our friends and family an email telling them I was throwing a surprise party for Priscilla to celebrate her graduation from medical school."
When the invited people reached Zuckerberg's house, they were surprised as Mark and Priscilla announced that they were getting married. But this isn't all that happened; there's more to it! Let's find out what!
Along with the remarkable story, Mark also told that just before his marriage anniversary day, comes the anniversary day of Facebook's IPO. In his post, Mark wrote, "Yesterday was the five-year anniversary of Facebook's IPO. Now you may ask, who would plan their wedding for the day after their IPO? Good question."
Mark said that when they were planning their marriage, they had no idea when the IPO would take place. He wrote, "I remember the day David, our CFO, told me the IPO process would conclude on May 18." When Mark heard this, he was shocked and asked David if they could postpone or do the IPO sooner, but David rejected the possibilities. Mark further wrote, "And that's how our IPO came to be the day before our wedding."
As Mark and Priscilla had to cut their honeymoon short, since they had to return because of some trouble with the IPO, Mark promised Priscilla that they would go on a honeymoon every year. On this year's honeymoon plan, Mark wrote, "This year we're travelling around the US, and we'll be spending our honeymoon in rural Maine. One lesson I've learned from marriage is that exploring together just gets better over time."
Wishing Mark and Priscilla a very happy married life!
