A goat was born on May 10 with one eye, in the north-east of India, in the state of Assam and has baffled everyone since then. The goat is black and does not have eyelashes or eyelids. Also, there is no true nose. Sadly, the goat is blind due to improper formation of optical nerves. It is being referred to as the CYCLOPS because, in Greek and Roman mythologies, cyclops was a giant creature with a single eye in the center of the forehead. Also, cyclops actually means "round-eyed" or "circle-eyed".
The goat has cyclopia, a condition when the left and right parts of the brain do not separate. There had been predictions from the veterinarians of the village in Assam, India that the goat will not survive and will soon die. But, the goat has defied all and is still alive. It is definitely going to lead a tuff life, because of the complications it is born with.
It has upper and lower lips, but very small. The upper jaw is short and teeth are missing. Also, we can see a normal sized tongue that is protruding. Apart from goats, the condition of cyclopia has been reported in horses, pigs, cows, cats and even dusky sharks. People are visiting the village in large numbers to get a glimpse of the goat.
It is now being worshipped by people of the village.
"I was shocked. It's like a miracle and people have been coming to our place to see this baby goat."
He happily added, "They told me it will die in a few days but that was not true.
It's my responsibility to take care of the baby goat. I have been feeding him like a normal goat. It might be something from God that the baby goat was born in our house."
A villager who had come to see the baby goat quipped, "When I came to know about it, I thought it's a lie. But I was shocked to see the goat with a single eye."
Definitely a miracle, we wish that this baby goat continues to live healthily and sets an example!
