Not just that, but Clooney is the nephew of Oscar-winning actor José Ferrer and actress-singer Rosemary Clooney. Subsequently, he bears a relationship with their actor sons Rafael Ferrer and Miguel Ferrer and is also a cousin-in-law of Grammy-winning singer Debby Boone.
Needless to say that showbiz runs in his family.
The man who has played dashing roles and is kind of leading a Casanova life is sure to be very romantic in his real life. But oops... he's not one according to the story of his marriage proposal.
Clooney revealed in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres that his proposal was cringeworthy.
He described cooking dinner for his beloved that night; everything was arranged -- even the song. But out of the blue, she got up to do the dishes which she had never done. He continued, "I'm like, 'What are you doing?' [She] comes back in, and finally, I said, 'You know, I blew out the candle', and I said, 'I think the lighter's in the box behind you.' And she reaches around, and she pulls out the box, and I've got just the ring sitting in there, and she pulls it out, and she looks at it, and she's like, 'It's a ring'-like as if somebody had left it there some other time."
Alamuddin didn't even realise that the ring was for her so, later Clooney dropped down on one knee and said, "I couldn't imagine spending the rest of my life without you. She kept looking at the ring, and she was looking at me, and she was like 'Oh my God.'" He said it took her about 25 minutes to answer the big question. Clooney recalled telling her, "Look, I hope the answer is yes, but I need an answer-I'm 52, and I could throw out my hip pretty soon."
Recently (2017), George and Amal Clooney came forward with a social donation of $10,000 which was towards the dogs rescued from a Mojave Desert backyard breeder. These dogs were saved by a California-based organisation, Camp Cocker Rescue. Their breeder cold-heartedly dumped the pooches in the desert.
The organisation is providing shelter and care to these dogs with the help of donations. Receiving around $5-25 on an average, a single donation of $10,000 knocked their socks off. But this surprise was accompanied by a good news where the Clooney committed that they will match every donation to the Camp Cocker Rescue up to $10,000!
Camp Cocker said, "After we all did happy dances and cried with happiness for this unbelievable matching donation offer – we then asked the donors (and only if they gave us their permission) if we could reveal their names to our supporters in order to help us reach our big goal this month," to which Clooney pleasantly agreed!
But this family is not new to saving rescue dogs since they once gifted a rescued terrier George's parents on Christmas.
After Clooney was voted as the "Sexiest Man Alive" by the People magazine in the year 2006, he publicly vowed to "never marry again" and would not have any children. Where he said, "A new Mrs Clooney is not something I'm looking out for. The truth is, I'm really happy."
But this statement attracted a bet from Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman in 2007 where both of them wagered $10,000 each saying that he would be a father before he turns 40. Both of them were wrong and had to send Clooney a check, but the actor returned the money betting them double that he won't have kids even until the age of 50.
But now the actor has changed his mind about having kids and is expecting twins with wife Amal.
