Abhay Deol left no stone unturned when he slammed Bollywood biggies like Shahrukh Khan, Vidya Balan, Deepika Padukone, Sidharth Malhotra, Shahid Kapoor, and Sonam Kapoor, in a series of Facebook posts, for endorsing fairness products and propagating racist stereotypes! It was then that we realized that this country has been far too obsessed with the concept that fair is beautiful!
And this time it's about a picture that's surfaced and doing the rounds. It is a selfie that's gone viral and captioned 'The faces of India, they won't show you'. The picture shows off three dark-skinned beautiful women wearing sarees and jewellery posing and smiling in front of the camera killing the Indian 'ugly obsession' with fair skin.
As the comments on the picture and skin color discrimination get louder, take a look at some dusky beauties of India that are breaking all stereotypes regarding skin color and beauty.
This picture was first posted by Abirami Ravichandran Pillai on Instagram and later the pic went viral after Facebook page 'The Uncanny Truth Teller 2' shared it. Ever since the picture has been shared more than 30,000 times.
Last year these two dark-skinned women posted their pictures standing against color discrimination!
A campaign that was started by three students of the University of Texas, brought together different people from across the globe to break the skin color stereotypes. Two among the three students were from India!
The campaign soon became a success and inspired the hashtag #unfairandlovely
It's time we realize that Dark is Beautiful! And let go of this racist stereotypes we end up propagating.
