The El Clasico wasn't a perfect result for the Los Blancos as they dropped 3 vital points at home to Barcelona. However, Madrid's destiny still lies in their own hands as if they manage to win their remaining fixtures, they'll be crowned La Liga Champions.
So who came out on top as the fastest for Real Madrid?
Real Madrid's fastest player's title is usually shared by either Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale but Bale went off injured early in the Clasico which gave him no real time to clock up his full speed. However, Cristiano Ronaldo's fastest speed in the Clasico was recorded at 33.14km/h. Now that's something pretty fast for a player who is 32 and growing old.
But Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't the fastest Real Madrid player on the pitch Sunday night as he cut a sorry figure for the Whites not managing to score or assist. So, who do you think was Real Madrid's fastest player in the Clasico? Any guesses? Benzema? He can't be, for sure.
The fastest Real Madrid player in the El Clasico was the ever so promising youngster "Marco Asensio" who recorded a top speed of 33.22km/h. The young Spaniard has been pretty impressive since he has received a call up to the Senior team and he has never failed to live up to expectations. Asensio made a brilliant sprint into the Barcelona box and gave a reasonably good cross to Cristiano Ronaldo but the latter failed to finish the chance which was not what we usually see from Cristiano Ronaldo.
Asensio was given a chance in the Clasico in place of Gareth Bale who went off injured early in the first half. Asensio also featured in both legs of Real Madrid's QF game against Bayern Munich with him providing the assist for Cristiano's winner in the first leg and scoring the last goal in the 4-1 victory in the second leg, ensuring that he belongs to the Bernabeu. It is still to be seen if the Spaniard is Zidane's first choice option in the absence of Gareth Bale who is set to miss next 3 weeks but there is no denying that this youngster is gonna be the next big thing in Spain.
