On April 18th, 2017, Sonu Nigam tweeted about the use of loudspeakers in the mosques, gurudwaras, and temples. His tweets were taken quite personally by religious people, and that sparked a debate on Twitter. Many people supported it, and many opposed his views.
But recently, Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi, a Maulvi from West Bengal said something shocking. He had said: "If anyone can shave his hair, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and tour him around the country, I personally announce an award of Rs 10 lakh for that person."
And after this instance, Sonu Nigam shaved his head. Strange, isn't it? Read on to know what actually happened.
Sonu Nigam said that he was forced to wake up in the morning due to loudspeakers used by mosques, temples, and gurdwaras.
After the protest from many people, Sonu Nigam finally apologised to all the people and clarified that he was targeting the loudspeakers, not any religion.
Sonu Nigam also said that one can use only a few words in a single tweet, that's why he used series of tweets to clarify his statement.
"If anyone can shave his hair, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and tour him around the country, I personally announce an award of Rs 10 lakh for that person." He also said, "People like Nigam should be driven out of the country."
Sonu Nigam invited the Maulvi and asked him to keep 10 lakh rupees ready. He even agreed to get his head shaved.
Sonu Nigam said that it is a problem of our country's thinking and he explained that he is not against any religion. He also added that he was just giving his opinion.
After the press conference, Sonu Nigam shaved his head and did what he tweeted.
It will be interesting to see Maulvi's reaction now.
That's all, folks!
