On Monday, doctors operated upon a 25-year old turtle which swallowed 915 coins in Bangkok, Thailand.

The turtle mistook these coins for food and kept eating them until they caused her stomach to ache.

The coins almost weighed five kilograms and were in her stomach for a long time till the surgeons performed the seven-hour operation.

The weight of the coins caused large cracks on the skin of turtle's stomach. The observers noticed her trouble after she could barely swim.

Om Sin, which is Thai for Piggy Bank, was sent to the faculty from Sea Turtle Conservation Centre of the Royal Thai Navy in Sattahip District, Chonburi, last month.
