A recent incident that took place in the US would sadden all hearts around the world, not just Indian. Tho Indians having some nice time in a bar after a whole day of work never saw it coming. One moment they were victims of racist comments passed by a US Navy veteran, the next moment gun shots were fired on them. The whole act is unreasonable and immoral as far as humans are concerned.
An Indian engineer, Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot dead by a US Navy veteran. Two other victims got injured. Alok Madasani, his Indian colleague, and Ian Grillot, a white man who tried to stop the attacker.
The 32-year old victim, Kuchibhotla who worked as an aviation engineer at the Garmin headquarters in Olathe, Kansas, was originally from Hyderabad. He did his B.Tech from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and pursued his Masters from University of Texas El Paso.
Kuchibhotla and Madasani went to bar after work when the accused attacker started passing some racist comments calling them "Middle Easterners."
Perpetuator, Adam Purinton shouted, "get out of my country" before firing the shots. What's sadly surprising is that he told the bartender that he shot two "Middle Eastern" men.
Apparently, the accused fled the scene like a coward. Mistaking the Indian guys for middle easterners and expressing false hatred by firing gunshots on them is entirely unreasonable.
He is charged with premeditated murder and deliberate attempt to murder. This is the first incident of Indian hate crime after Trump became president.
The one accused is American, so is the one who took bullets to his chest to save the victims of racism.
Passing racist comments and expressing hatred by killing people is apparently a part of a process of making America great I guess.
