As you all know iPhone has recently undergone a massive change by getting rid of the headphone jack. This was a controversial move by them, to say the least! Some people were furious! Others saw it as a money grabbing scheme getting people to pay extra for the wireless headphones.
Not content with this big change, the guys at Apple are rumored to be bringing about another big change with the next release. As you probably guessed from the title, they could be getting rid of the home button.
Fear not though my iPhone loving friends as the chances are you will be very excited about the proposed replacement.
Reports have suggested that Apple plans to remove the home button and put in place a thumbprint sensor embedded in the screen. This will be seen as the first step towards a biometric sensor system.
This is not the only rumored change; there are apparently also plans for facial tracking features to be built into the new release. This could also serve as a way of identifying you as the owner.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a research report in which he advises that the fingerprint technology will "ultimately be replaced by a facial recognition system. However, if the technical challenges cannot be overcome, we believe a combination of fingerprint and facial recognition is another possible solution".
As well as the home button being binned the next iPhone's 3D Touch tech looks to be getting a makeover; Apple may be changing to a more sensitive film sensor for the touchscreen. This will no doubt bring some changes to the look and feel of the new iPhone.
So, with all of these exciting new changes, I imagine iPhone users will be quick to forget the loss of the much-loved home button!
As Apple's iPhone is now 10 years old, take a trip down memory lane!
