It's been a case of new year, same Liverpool this transfer window, with no major comings or goings to report from Anfield.

The Reds are enjoying one of their best ever Premier League seasons with Jurgen Klopp's men currently lying in third place, level on points with Tottenham who are in second. The chance of a first league title since 1990 is still on the cards, with Liverpool sitting seven points behind leaders Chelsea.

Liverpool have it all to do if they are to topple the blues though and with just two weeks left of the January transfer window, Klopp may have to splash the cash and bring in some quality additions to give the Reds any chance of domestic glory. The Colombian forward has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu this season with reports suggesting he has fallen out with manager, Zinedine Zidane.

A number of clubs are said to be interested in Rodriguez who was one of the standout players at the 2014 World Cup. His attacking flair would certainly add a new dynamic to the Liverpool team.

The experienced centre-back has handed in a transfer request at Southampton and looks unlikely to stay at the club. The Portuguese defender who starred at the Euros last summer has been one of the most consistent players in the Premier League in recent years.

With Joel Matip's return to the side uncertain and Ragnar Klavan's performances shaky at best, Fonte could well be the partner Dejan Lovren needs to sure up Liverpool's backline.

Dimitri Payet- West Ham United

The French forward has angered West Ham fans by stating he no longer wants to play for the club.  Marseille have since made two bids for Payet, both rejected by the London side.

With Payet desperate for a move but West Ham standing firm, a January move could prove unlikely. However, given his performances last year and at Euro 2016, Klopp should be pulling out all the stops to bring Payet to Anfield.

Jonas Hector- FC Koln

While James Milner has done a decent job this season, Liverpool could really benefit from a genuine attacking left-back. Jonas Hector could well be that player with the Koln defender also able to play in midfield.

He was reportledy targeted by Liverpool in the summer. Hector's solid defensive game and attacking talents certainly merit another probe by Liverpool.

Liverpool is a bit of a pickle in the goalkeeping department with neither Simon Mignolet nor Loris Karius proving reliable between the sticks.

The title-winning number one could well prove to be the commanding presence that Liverpool require to win the Premier League. Just don't mention his dad!

Whilst the Premier League would provide a tougher challenge for Dembele, he could be the wildcard that helps Liverpool to their first League Title in more than 25 years
