So, Valentine's day isn't too far away and love is in the air. There is something crazy about these few days, wherever we look, we see people in relationships. You can't be out and stay an hour without having to see some couple doing cheesy relationship stuff.
If you're anything like me, you're going to find this annoying. And it's not that I don't believe in love, I just happen to believe that it's way too overrated. Don't you agree with me?
Let me elaborate. Let's take a look at the reasons why I said that.
Get what I mean? It's hardly ever about being there for your significant other. People always want something in return. There's a line in the movie "Are You Here" that goes like, "The reason friendship is a lot rarer than love is because there isn't anything for both sides" and it's true! The whole idea of acting like you're doing things for them out of love when in reality you expect something back just seems pointless!
Love at first sight? pffft! Please! Dumbest thing I've ever heard! How can you fall in love with someone for who they are just at first glance? It's not possible! You need to get to know a person to actually fall in love with them. Love at first sight is just a glorified way of saying you're attracted to someone.
First Kiss! You know, when you've over-hyped it to the point of no return. You set really high expectations of how it's supposed to be absolutely perfect. And then it actually happens. Too much tongue or too less? Either way, your little bubble of fantasies gets popped! Say what you will, this is one of the most overrated things about Love and Relationships!
The man of your dreams, the most charming guy ever, your one and only...sounds familiar? It should! Considering the fact that you've thought the same about guys before him and you probably will after you're done with him. And Guys, the same goes for you! One and Only? Of course, she is! Right up to the point where you've found someone else!
Now don't get offended, if have your one and only, we are happy for you.
Two weeks after a break-up, you read some of those cheesy texts you sent your significant other when you were in a relationship. It's crazy how cheesy we can be when we're in love! All of a sudden everyone morphs into Shakespeare! Embarrassing right? Exactly! One of the worst part of relationships.
You like a friend's (of the opposite sex) profile picture on Facebook and your partner goes crazy! Whether this exact scenario has happened to you or not, you've got to admit the drama is annoying in any and every relationship. And the worst part is you find the dumbest stuff to be pissed about and then the drama just seems to go on and on and on.
We just can't cover a topic on love without adressing Unrequited Love! Need I explain? Admit it! We've all experienced it! In fact, it's happened so many times that we actually coined a word for it, "Friendzoned!" Yeah! Sometimes, you're just investing all your time on someone who doesn't deserve it. And you know what they say, there's nothing more painful than unrequited love, except getting kicked in the nuts…but that's a whole other thing.
The idea of having late night conversations, while intriguing isn't really that great. Sure, it seems perfect at that moment but only because you convince yourself that they're worth more than sleep. Think about the next day! Trust me, at 3 am, switch off your phone and go to bed! There is nothing more important than sleep. And besides, if you really do love them, just let them sleep!
So Valentine's day is just around the corner and you're buying her flowers and chocolate. Two weeks later, you're back at the store buying her something nice because it's her birthday! Wait, your anniversary is just three weeks away...! What about all those fancy restaurants you take her out to on dates!? Before you know it, you're completely broke! Get where I'm going with this?
Deep right? But it totally does happen...Yeah, sometimes you don't even know when it ends! Sometimes it ends long before it ends officially. Either way, you're never the same person coming out of a relationship that you were when you get into one!
