We all know about the might and strength the Great Khali possessed that made him India's first ever pro-wrestler to wear a WWE title around his waist in 2008. Well, seems like history has repeated itself, but not for Khali, instead, for the new Indian that has taken the WWE Universe with his Punjabi might and skills. Ladies and gentleman, presenting, Jinder Mahal the new WWE champion, an athlete who is cunning, quick and deadly with his powerful finisher which he calls the 'The Khallas'.

In the match that took place on Sunday night, or Monday morning (IST), Randy Orton (who held the title till last night) took over Jinder Mahal, who stole his WWE title after he defeated Erick Rowan in a hard-hitting No Disqualification match, Mahal, with his Indian friends, Bollywood Boyz slammed the Viper and took the title from Randy saying, "Randy, you're just like all of these people, you disrespect me because I look different!" 

After this incident, Mahal confronted Orton in the title match today in which he successfully took over the Viper and won the title, becoming the second Indian to reach the spot after Khali. 

Mahal's debut in the WWE Universe

Jinder Mahal, originally named Yuvraj Singh "Raj" Dhesi began his WWE career on June 17, 2011, with a match against Vladimir Kozlov in which he defeated Kozlov. Jinder has been associated in many controversies with Khali and told the media how he was unimpressed by him.

He is a Canadian-born Indian and according to him, the selectors of the tournament took him in because "they like guys who speak different languages and have different looks" as he came in the selections with a turban and his full outfit.

In a list of contenders that was released by WWE, Jinder Mahal was listed as the 'number one' contender for the title of WWE.

As he was declared the 'number one' contender for the WWE title, the Maharaja had to beat the Apex Predator, Randy Orton who held the title till last night, in the WWE Backlash. 

But even before the Backlash could start...

On SmackDown Live, when Randy finished his match against Erick Rowan, winning, Mahal came along to confront the Viper as he said, "Randy you're just like all of these people, you disrespect me because I look different! You disrespect me because of your arrogance and your lack of tolerance!" After this confrontation, he attacked the Viper with the help of the Bollywood Boyz and stole the WWE title away from Randy. 

He even had a full posed photoshoot with the WWE title before returning it.

Before the SmackDown Live commissioner Mr McMahon could take the title back from the Maharaja, he organised a full posed photoshoot with the WWE title in his turban and blue dapper.

Finally, Jinder Mahal defeated Randy Orton last night in the WWE Backlash and owned the title. He is the second Indian to do this after the Great Khali.

WWE.com tweeted a video of Jinder Mahal with the WWE belt with him, after defeating Orton

His official twitter handle also tweeted announcing the beginning of his era.
