Every year since 1999, Forbes magazine has been coming up with a list of the world's 100 top-paid celebrities. It is called Forbes Celebrity 100. The popularity of Celebrity 100 has led Forbes to release county-specific lists as well.
Forbes India has been coming up with a Celebrity 100 since 2012. The ranking considers two parameters: estimates of earnings and fame. For this year's list, the considered period for the evaluation is 1 October 2015 to 30 September 2016. The list has a few interesting surprises.
So, without much ado, let's have a look at the top names on Forbes India Celebrity 100.
Sonakshi Sinha has not been having a ball at the box office for quite some time now but her recent performances have none the less been appreciated. She has deservedly managed to grab the #20 spot in Forbes India Celebrity 100 for the year 2016.

The period considered for the evaluation for the Forbes India list is 1 October 2015 to 30 September 2016 and during this period no film of his got released. Dangal just got released on the 23rd of December. The ratings could have seriously altered had the month of December included in the evaluation. One can expect Aamir Khan to jump several spots in the next year's rankings.

Shah Rukh Khan, with an estimated earning of Rs 221.75 crore, finds himself at #2 in this year's list. He has lost the top spot to a powerful adversary. It can be attributed to the poor show of Fan at the box-office. Although his performance was appreciated by the critics, the movie failed to even cross the 100 crore mark in the Indian market.
At the top of the Forbes India Celebrity 100 is none other than Salman Khan. Salman Khan was at #2 in the last year's Celebrity 100 list with SRK taking the top spot but this year he has dethroned the King of Bollywood to claim the numero uno spot with an estimated income of Rs. 270.33 crore.
